“Manic Botanic” is the title of my exhibition at The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, CO.  My studio is in the Twin Peaks Mall and I’m painting large scale flowers, fruits and veggies. Of course I’ve been contemplating the phytoplankton, of the Arctic and imagining what’s really growing under the ice. Please check it out July 19 – August 11, 2013.

Last summer, I worked with a group of Micron Technology employees, guiding them to create a piece of art in which they all participated in. It was the first gig for Art Functions, my new business venture.

On June 5, 2012, the planet Venus will move between the Earth and the Sun, visible to the human eye as a small black dot crossing the solar disk. This “Venus transit” is a rare astronomical phenomenon: the next will occur in 2117. Longmont-based artist Julie Clement celebrates this event in Venus and Sun, a monumental (32 feet by 8 feet) wall mural commissioned by the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center and supported by the Friends of the Longmont Museum. I have embodied the forces of Venus. I have one week to complete the painting. I began painting the Sun last night and the energy shift is significant. I feel very vibrant even though my dogs are barking, my fingers get a lil skitchy and my lower back begs for Joe’s sweet massage. Honey is my medicine!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in the warehouse of the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center to bring forth this deep expression. I hope to see you all at the opening on May 12, 6 – 9 pm.
